New Guest Speaker at Inverleith Society AGM

Unfortunately Marion Williams is no longer available to talk at the AGM. However, we are delighted that 

Professor Cliff Hague OBE, Chair of the Cockburn Association 

has agreed to give a talk on 

Past and Present challenges for conservation in Edinburgh 

Cliff has had a distinguished career in the planning profession. He is Professor Emeritus of Planning and Spatial Development at Heriot-Watt University, a Past President of the Royal Town Planning Institute and of the Commonwealth Association of Planners and past Chair of Built Environment Forum Scotland.

28 Canonmills

This is an application for addition of skylights and dormers into the front and rear roof slopes of the two storey building to the South of the block containing Napier Bathrooms showroom.

The Society’s objection noted that Canonmills retains a diversity of building types and forms including surviving examples of older vernacular and commercial buildings like No28 Canonmills. This gives it a distinctive character and sense of place which provides a counterpoint to the greater uniformity of the building forms in the adjoining areas.
